Sheera/Suji ka halwa

Suji halwa is made with fine semolina, ghee, sugar and nuts. Suji is a large flour made from durum wheat and is typically golden or white in color. This is used to make a variety of dishes, including porridge, bread and pasta.This Indian sweet can be rendered in about 15 minutes. sheera is a common Prasad made during Satyanarayana Pooja, Janmashatami, Lakshmi pooja, Diwali or Navrathri. The recipe is usually made for breakfast and eaten as an accompaniment to delicious dishes such as upma, khara bhath and poha. Having said that the recipe could also be used as a sweet or snack for every meal, including lunch and dinner.

FOR ROASTING:
2 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
7 almonds / badam
½ cup rava / semolina / suji,
OTHER INGREDIENTS:
1½ cup water
½ cup sugar
¼ cup ghee / clarified butter
½ tsp cardamom powder
Method -
1. Firstly, in a pan add 2 tbsp ghee and roast 7 almonds on low flame, once it turns golden brown, keep aside, in the remaining ghee add ½ cup rava and roast for 5 minutes on low flame, keep aside.
2. In a large kadai get 1½ cup water to a rolling boil, add roasted rava slowly, stirring continuously, the rava will absorb all the water and turns a lump-free mixture.
3. Now add ½ cup sugar and continue to stir, sugar dissolves completely and gets absorbed by rava, further add ¼ cup ghee .
4. Now mix well making sure everything is well combined, cover and simmer for 5 minutes making sure rava is cooked completely, add roasted almonds, raisins and ½ tsp cardamom powder, mix well making sure everything is well combined.
5. Enjoy sheera as a dessert or serve as prasad.

Sheera is most commonly offered to the Gods as Prasad or naivedya during festivals like GANESH CHATURTHI, VARALAKSHMI POOJA & Navratri.Sheera or Suji Halwa is a traditional Indian pudding made with semolina, ghee, sugar, cashews and raisins. This simple delicious dessert has a fluffy & soft texture with delicate flavors of cardamom & ghee. Suji halwa is made in many regions of India with more or less the same ingredients & similar method. It is known as sheera in Maharashtra, Karnataka and some parts of Andhra Pradesh. The same is known as Suji halwa in North India. South Indian rava kesari or kesari bath is a variation of this which is made much the same way but with an addition of kesari color
