Go back in the past a little, remember when mamma tried getting you to eat your greens? Remember how you wanted burgers and sandwiches instead of Chappati and Bhaaji for your school tiffins? I’m 20 years of age now, and recently it dawned upon me how much I craved my mother’s food while I was away interning. Of course, I enjoyed home cooked meals while I was home too but now there’s a new found joy I feel, while having every morsel of the simple yet heartfelt meals prepared at home. It’s quite amusing when i think about all the fuss we’ve made as children to have our vegetables or have something that we thought we wouldn’t like simply because it was labelled as healthy.

I realize now that most of my peers too have taken an interest in being “home cooks” and have been giving out recipes full of healthy goodness.

“Ghar ka khana” is made with extreme love and care. It is given more importance as it is high in nutritional value and hygiene. Nowadays people travel around the world for business and other other purpose. People stay away from home more often and after few days of having hotel food they crave to have simple food which reminds them of home. With this aspect hotels have designed a menu for many such travellers. They have come up with the concept of Ghar ka khana (home cooked food). Demand for this concept has been increased as home-style cooked food is simple and packed with flavours. Each and every ingredient added to it plays a very important role as these ingredients are seasonal, fresh and handled with care. Home cooked food are simple and easy to make. Spices and oils or fat in home cooking is minimum and the flavors of the spices are not complicated.
